President's Welcome

Dear Nebraska ASHRAE Members,

I am pleased to announce that we have officially kicked off another year in the storied history of the Nebraska Chapter of ASHRAE.   The 2009/2010 ASHRAE year started last month in Park City, Utah at the Chapter Regional conference (CRC).  Our chapter’s passion really shined and we showed up in force.  I believe we were the most well represented and prepared chapter in attendance.   We have set the bar high this year, but we are prepared to take on the challenge!  Our Officers, Past President and Chairs in attendance at the CRC were Rich Woodson, Rob Harper, Kim Cowman, Sarah Richardson, Tyler Glesne, Jeremy Hunter, Jessica Errett and me.  We also had (3) members attend the CRC that are serving at the society level in key positions.  They are Gary Cooper (Regional Vice Chair - Resource Promotion), Tom Lewis (Regional Vice Chair - Chapter Technology Transfer) and Tim Wentz (Nominating Committee & Regional Webmaster).  We all had a great time and got much accomplished.  We also had a lot of laughs at the Nebraska hospitality suite (a bathtub full of beer on ice, a counter full of liquor, mixed nuts, M&M’s, and a bunch of tables and chairs in a large pub scented hotel room).  Nebraska almost always hosts the hospitality suite multiple nights for all the attendees from all the chapters at every CRC.  It also serves as a great way for our chapter attendees to meet many people from all over our region as we are the hosts of the party each night.  Our chapter is blessed with one of the best group of volunteers I have ever worked with.  Please note this year’s officers and chairs listed in this newsletter.  They are the ones that are making this all happen!  I am excited and proud to announce them to you officially at our first meeting next Tuesday.

The Nebraska Chapter and its members, including student members, were the recipient of many great regional, chapter and national honors and awards this year and last year.  We will update you soon with information on the recipient’s of these honors and awards, once they are all official.

We have a great line up of programs for the meetings this year.  We tried to cover a wide range of topics that best serve all of our member’s interests.  Some of the programs are tentative but we have great backups if anything were to fall through or change.  For now, the line up includes an ASHRAE distinguished lecturer, a highly regarded local sports figure, a night meeting with a cocktail hour, a local tour and a golf outing.  We would also like to have a meeting with families and guests of members encouraged to attend.  Please try to attend as many meetings as possible this year as the meetings are the engine that drives the machine and how we come together as a “family”.  Also, please encourage others to join our great chapter.  The more the merrier!

I live in Papillion, but work for Metal Industries out of Clearwater, Florida, so it is easiest to contact me via mobile phone or email.  Both are listed at the bottom of this message.  I encourage you to contact me directly to discuss any issues or concerns that you may have or encounter.   We welcome our members input and ideas.

 Sincerely,

Andy Vinckier
